What a session looks like
Your coach starts with a 30-second baseline: two marches, two squats, filmed on a phone. Then each protocol places you in a supported stretch, moves the joint gently through range, and applies the HF Vibration Device with mild to moderate pressure, never longer than 60 seconds per stretch. Then you repeat the baseline and watch the difference.
What it should never feel like
A TVT session works within a moderate, tolerable stretch. Muscular tension is expected; pain is not. Your coach is trained to stop the moment you report sharp pain or anything that isn't a tightness or stretch sensation, and to check a contraindications chart before working with you. If you have a recent surgery, injury or medical condition, talk to your provider first.
Between sessions
Certified coaches assign self-application protocols you can do at home in a chair or at a cage with your own device: seated foot and ankle, lower leg, cross-leg stretch, standing hamstring, quad and hip flexor, pigeon pose, hand and wrist, elbow, shoulder rotation, neck and shoulder, and TMJ.
How to know your coach is TVT-certified
- They hold a TVT Stretch Specialist certificate with a unique ID that verifies online
- They capture a baseline before and after every session
- They use an HF Vibration Device, not a percussion gun, and keep it moving
- They follow the 60-second shot clock and the stop-use rule
- They were trained on Dr. Matt Gloyd's protocols, not a generic stretch script
Questions people ask
What is vibration stretching?
Assisted stretching combined with high-frequency vibration applied to the lengthened tissue. The method taught to certified coaches is Targeted Vibration Therapy (TVT), developed by Dr. Matt Gloyd, DPT.
Does vibration stretching hurt?
It should not. Sessions stay within a moderate, tolerable stretch with mild to moderate device pressure. Coaches are trained never to push through sharp pain.
How is this different from a stretch studio?
The stretch is the same idea. The difference is the L.O.V. structure, the baseline test that shows the result, and the HF vibration applied to the lengthened tissue by a coach certified in the protocols.
How do I find a TVT-certified coach near me?
Look for the TVT Stretch Specialist certificate, which verifies online by ID. The certification program and coach directory live at tvtstretch.com.
